Witamy do Rodzina Eliasz / LeszczyĆski !
Eliasz - Polish [alternate spellings: Eliaszka fem., Elias,
Eliaska fem., Eliasza, Eliaszowna, Heliasz, Heliaszowna, Heliaszka, Elijasz,
Eljasz,
Elyasz]
(some times mispelled: Elias, Eliaz, Elian, Elien, Eliase, Eliasc, Eliacz);
Often you will see in old Parish records that show many
of the alternate spellings, some times 2 spellings in the same record or
same family. Hence, why I know these are all the same family. Also, keep
in mind that Polish alters the name for female (hence szka or owna endings)
or various tenses/gramatical reasons. So you often see Josefa for Josef
or even Eliasza for Eliasz. The 'owna' ending denotes a young, unmarried
female, whereas the 'ska' or 'szka' ending denotes a married woman. In Russian/Cyrillic the name appears as Elijasz often.
